Eligibility Contest open to all U.S. residents. Employees of the Las Vegas Review-Journal/Sun or Stephens Media, as well as immediate family members, are not eligible to enter.
Entries Accepted from Sept. 1, 2011, thru Sept. 23, 2011, at 5 p.m.
How to Enter
Submit completed entry form with photo of pet and $5 entry fee donation (cash, check, money order, credit card). Digital photos must be emailed as a .jpg. Only one photo per entry and must be 3x5 or 4x6 inches. Name of pet, person entering pet, and phone number must be on back of photo or in email submission. Photo becomes property of Las Vegas Review-Journal and will not be returned. Checks made payable to Las Vegas Review-Journal-NIE. Professional photographs, Kiosk and color printer photos NOT ACCEPTED.
In Person - Fill out form, pay entry fee donation , and submit photo at cashier's office at Las Vegas Review-Journal, 1111 W. Bonanza Road.
By Mail - Fill out form (found in newspaper or online at lasvegasNIE.com) and mail to Las Vegas Review-Journal-NIE Pet Contest, 1111 W. Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV 89106, with entry fee and photo.
Online - Send email to nie@reviewjournal.com with attached .jpg photo and ALL information from entry form found on Web site. Include credit card information for entry fee donation or phone number for NIE to call for payment information.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal is not responsible for incomplete, lost, late, postage-due or illegible entries.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reserves the right to disqualify entries deemed inappropriate or entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the contest.
Voting Period
Voting period begins Sept. 29, 2011, at 10:31 a.m., thru Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. Votes can be cast in person at the Las Vegas Review-Journal main office, by mail, phone or online. ALL votes must be received by voting period deadline. Voting totals will be posted on NIE website - lasvegasNIE.com.
Voting open to general public. Each vote is a 20 cents ($0.20) (minimum $5 online credit card charge)donation . Voting limited to persons 18 years of age or older. No limit on the amount of votes a person can cast.
Voting Directions
1. Register for the contest voting creating a user id and password.
2. Fill out all pertinent information on the registration page and choose how many votes you wish to purchase.
3. Once logged into your account go to the voting page and select the pet you wish to vote for.
4. Click on the pet's name and a screen will show up that allows for full view of the pet and for the actual voting.
5. See the drop down menu bar for voting - be sure that you vote the exact amount of votes that you wish to give to that pet.
6. You can be sure that you have used all your votes by looking in your log in box - where the votes will say 0.
7. If you wish to buy more votes you may click the link BUY in that same box.
8. If you only wish to give a pet a few of your purchased votes then scroll down in that voting box to the number you wish to give to that one pet. Remember to use the rest of your votes for other pets so that your votes do not go to waste!
9. Votes you have distributed should appear on the pet's picture right away to verify that they have been received.
Winner Determination
Finalists will be determined by NIE Clark County School District classes. Twenty (20) finalists selected. Winners determined by total number of votes received. In the event of a tie, a winner will be randomly chosen from the tied entries. Winners will be announced Oct. 25, 2011, on the NIE Web site, in the Las Vegas Review-Journal print edition, and notified by email and/or telephone.
Prizes
First-place winner has photo placed on cover of calendar, appears as NIE mascot for the school year. First-place winner receives gift basket with prizes and gifts from local sponsors.
Placement of calendar photos is at the discretion of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Prizes non transferable and there are no substitutions allowed by the winner.
Participation
By participating in the contest entrants are bound by all rules of the contest. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reserves the right to suspend, modify, or terminate contest at any time. The Las Vegas Review-Journal will not be responsible for inadvertent errors in printing, typing, etc., of the official rules or other materials regarding the content.
